In short

A controlled hard brake on the examiner's command, included on some US road tests.

A quick stop (or emergency stop) is a controlled, firm brake performed when the examiner says 'STOP' or 'quick stop'. Stop in the shortest controlled distance with full mirrors and observation before continuing.

Tested on fewer US road tests than the UK practical, but included in some state DMVs.
