In short

When the examiner says 'quick stop' or 'emergency stop', brake firmly with both feet, keep the steering steady, and stop in the shortest controlled distance. No mirrors before the brake. After stopping, secure the car, wait for 'continue', then full observations before pulling away.

The cue and the brake

The examiner says firmly: 'STOP' or 'quick stop.' That is your cue. Brake firmly. Don't check mirrors first; the emergency is the brake.

After the stop

Park brake, transmission to PARK, then wait for 'continue' from the examiner. Before moving off, full all-round observations including over your right shoulder.
