In short
Reversing into a parking space alongside the curb, between two parked cars.
Parallel parking is reversing into a parking space alongside the curb, between two parked cars. You position alongside the front car, reverse with full lock toward the curb, then opposite lock to swing the front in.
Tested by some state DMVs (California, New York, Massachusetts) but not all (Texas, Florida). The examiner is watching for control, observation, and an ending position within state-specified distance of the curb.
