In short

A mock road test is a full-test simulation done with your instructor on one of the real routes at your DMV center, using your state's scoring sheet. Do one 10 days out and one 3 days out.

The four-step plan

  1. Pick the hardest published route at your DMV. Driving Routes lists routes with a difficulty rating. Choose the hardest.
  2. Print your state's road-test scoring sheet. Each state DMV has its own sheet. Search '[state] road test scoring sheet PDF'.
  3. Run the route like the real test. Pre-trip inspection. 15-20 minute drive. One manoeuvre (parallel park, 3-point turn, etc.).
  4. Debrief and target the next session. Count fault points. Identify the one habit causing the most. Focus next two sessions on it.
