What's a route?
A route is the specific sequence of roads and turns an examiner uses to assess a learner on the practical test. Each test centre has a small pool — typically 5 to 15 — chosen to be representative of local conditions. A Driving Routes route includes a name, distance, duration, difficulty rating, the turn-by-turn waypoint list, and a polyline for map preview.
How accurate are the routes?
Every route is verified by an approved driving instructor or a recent test-taker before we publish. We re-verify whenever roadworks or road changes invalidate a section. Routes are a high-confidence preview, not a guarantee — examiners choose from the pool but can take a variation.
